Basically each time De Niro and Walken took their chance, it was 50%. What I don't understand is why did De Niro take a turn AND have Walken take a turn as well? He's already enhanced his chance of getting a loaded chamber (and 3 consecutive shots) to 50%. No point in betting at that point, he's guaranteed to die. ![]() In addition, if the bullets were put in 1 loaded 1 empty pattern, De Niro would have gotten a 100% loaded chamber after Walken's turn because the Vietcong didn't spin the chamber. I think when De Niro actually started firing it was 3 straight shots with no empty click. ![]() So it appears the Vietcong guy puts 3 bullets in consecutively. ![]() So I get De Niro's plan to goad them into putting more bullets in the gun to enhance his chances of getting a loaded chamber when he turns the gun on the Vietcong. I've watched this movie a couple of times and the RR scene in Vietnam still confuses me a bit.
